Learn More About Your Diesel Trucks

By Jone Carducci

High energy density is a feature found in diesel engines that gives them an edge over your traditional engines and one may be already aware of it especially if you have your very own diesel truck or maybe planning on buying one in the near future. Diesel engines are stronger and they last a whole lot longer and their gas-powered rivals are nothing compared to them. You will notice that these diesel trucks also have better fuel economy especially if you upgraded these trucks recently with some diesel performance parts. Being able to save more with their decreased fuel consumption is a very awesome feature.

Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel was famous for the invention of the diesel engine and was first patented in 1892. The modern diesel engine that we can easily see today would not have been made without his help. This early diesel engine clearly had many advantages over gas engines like not needing any spark plugs. This means that ships, trains and other types of vehicle would be able to run without the help of coal but with oil.

A very memorable year for diesel trucks was 1933 because this is the year the first diesel truck hit the market. We were able to see the light of day with these diesel trucks even though the first patent existed in the late 19th century and we should feel glad about it. These diesel trucks were produced in the United States through Kenworth which is still very active today. At this date Kenworth is still one of the best truck manufacturers even with its old age. Continued service and high quality trucks have lead Kenworth to win a couple of awards.

Even though gas-powered trucks still hold a larger market share, sales of diesel trucks continue increase every year, especially now that gasoline is often as expensive as diesel fuel. Diesel engines required a heavier and more solid construction and because of this they are not commonly used in aviation, but they are excellent for both on-the-road and on-the-sea navigation. There are about 3 million diesel trucks registered in the United States, and a third of these trucks are found in Texas. Most diesel trucks look very cool in nature and that is just one more reason why drivers are shifting their attention to these vehicles.

The numbers of diesel truck owners that are choosing to modify their engines also is steadily increasing. Some of the most popular diesel performance parts are tuners, diesel exhausts and intakes. A tuner can usually increase your engines efficiency along with power. Increasing torque, improving horsepower and maximizing fuel economy are three important upgrades one should take note of.

When upgrading their diesel trucks, one may hear others popular opinion on upgrading their fuel pump and also adding a lift pump. Getting fuel into your engine becomes a much more efficient task with their help on the whole process. If you aren't sure which aftermarket parts are the best one's for your diesel truck, talk to an expert diesel mechanic or another trusted source to get advice.
